Tom Nevers and Gene Larkin combine their 20+ years of major and minor league experience and provides an opportunity for young men and women to develop fundamental skills on how to play the game the winning way. Gene and Tom lead an experienced team of qulified instructors, experienced with playing and coaching backgrounds on and off the field. They provide and expose the player to one of the best coaching staffs organized. Gene Larkin:
A former switch-hitting first baseman, designated hitter and right fielder in Major League Baseball who played his entire seven-season career with the Minnesota Twins.
During his playing career he wore #9 for Minnesota, and was a member of both the 1987 and 1991 World Series championship teams along with Randy Bush, Greg Gagne, Kirby Puckett, Al Newman, Kent Hrbek and Dan Gladden.
He is best known for hitting the series-winning single, a deep fly ball that scored Dan Gladden from third base during the tenth inning in Game 7 of the 1991 Series.
Larkin attended Columbia University and was drafted in the 20th round of the 1984 amateur draft and was the first alumnus of Columbia University to make the major leagues since Lou Gehrig.
Tom Nevers:
A former minor league baseball player selected by the Houston Astros in the first round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft as well as being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL.
In the late 1980s Tom Nevers was one of the top high school athletes while playing for the Edina Hornets from 1987-1990. During his 1989-90 senior year, Nevers batted over .500 for the Edina High School team, he was also elected to the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2003.
He also played hockey at Edina under legendary coach Willard Ikola, a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. In the 9th grade Nevers was one of the stars of the Edina team that won the Minnesota State hockey championship.
Nevers was the 1989-1990 Minneapolis Star and Tribune Metro Player of the Year in baseball, a Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist, and a high school All-American.
Nevers played 13 years in the minor-leagues before announcing his retirement at the conclusion of the 2002 season. In between minor league baseball seasons Nevers enrolled at the University of Minnesota, where he played on the Gophers' Hockey Team.
